Hindi Basics - Numbers 1 to 10
This is no ordinary number system.
This ten number counting system with Zero (shunya) is very important in Indian HISTORY because it has become accepted worldwide as the existing number system.
This is a number system that could define "The absence of a number" or the number has "no value". ZERO is a concept where the number has no value.
The number system is the same in all Indian languages, with slight variation in script.
Imagine doing complex calculations using roman numerals or other number system!
This number system was the base for many mathematical inventions in Ancient India & Modern World.
This number system was adapted into Arabia and from there to Europe. This was also how most of the knowledge from east went to the west.
Many of the formulas were converted & even hidden into hymns and prayer songs. One eg is the Katapayadi Sankhya
Thus maths, theories and calculation in ancient India also had a spiritual side.
British Raj tried their best to:
Replace superior Ancient Indian Education system with basic education system,
Remove contact between children & the environment,
Remove Art, Music & Dance from children's life
Remove the beauty of Maths from children's life
BUT they could NEVER replace the Indian number system & its theories.
If the British say India had an inferior education system... then how can a inferior education system have superior number system? And why did they spend so many manhours trying to translate almost every ancient Indian Texts.
